Definitely one of my biggest pet peeves!
What irks me more than anything are the people who toss cigarette butts and trash from car windows.
I mean, use the ashtray keep a bag in the car for trash... such a simple thing to do!
Aside from an ecological view, litter and broken bottles are an eyesore that lower the quality of life for everyone.
See trash on the pavement or street... pick it up, put it in the can that's probably not more than twenty feet away! No, that little effort won't solve the problem but it's a start. It's one less piece of trash and if more and more people would do this and teach their children not litter, well just maybe things will change.

oh my friend i doubt there is a soapbox big enough to hold the tirade i would unleash....
i have practically run a man off the road for throwin trash out his window.
and careless smokers are the worst!!! "its such a habit... i dont even think about it when i do it. they degrade dont they? they're just made out of cotton and paper..." - i say careless because of a woman i used to work with. she made sure all hers went in a can. she was cool about it. i have no problem with her. i used to smoke for a while. EVERY SINGLE BUTT went into a can or receptacle of some sort. if anything i kept it in my shoe until i could find one (out walking or whatever). i quit that for many reasons. smoke until your teeth fall out. smoke until you're blue in the face and have a tumor the size of your head. i dont care one iota. what you do to you is up to you. now, what you do to the place i live and work? i thinks its utterly disrespectful to everyone to throw trash on the ground...
